What did I learn?
Our first Interactivity project was to choose a device and write a review on it, since I'm using iPhone 4, so I decided to do a review on iPhone 4. Before this project, I basically had no idea about the technology or background of the company what so ever...This assignment really teaches far than a lot, and here are the most interesting three things that I learnt during the research, I thought it will be good to share with you guys!
No.1 Retina Display

No.2 Touchscreen

iPhone 4 (and the previous ones) allows users do Multi-touch with the interface. This interactivity between people to machine is based on our finger gesture with the screen. Multi-touch technology lets you perform two-finger gesture on the screen. The designer of this technology called Jeff Han, uses a technique named Frustrated Total Internal Reflection (FTIR) to accomplish the tasks. In some cases, for example, you can use two fingers to zoom in or zoom out a web page interface. Here, for touch-sensing, a panel laminated on the glass using electrical fields, then transmits the information to the Retina display below it to detect the user interaction. [10] Some of the iPhone Apps are involving using this technique to accomplish a certain goal, e.g., a control game on iPhone.
No.3 iPhone OS

Apple uses its in-house system called iOS to access iPhone, as well as iPod touch, and iPad devices. iOS is an operating system based on the creation of Mac OS X which is the system uses for Mac computers, although, in a way, iOS is similar to Mac OS X, but iOS does not require experience developing Mac OS X applications. The iOS Software Development Kit provides everything that is needed to start creating iOS applications. In the last quarter of 2010, it had a 16% share of the smartphone OS system market share, just behind Google’s Android and Nokia’s Symbian.

The development of iOS comes really fast as we are currently at the fourth version (exclude the try out version of iOS 5). Compare with iOS 3.0, iOS 4.0 added FaceTime, HD video record and Game Center as their most development. There are also recent pre versions on the upcoming fifth iOS (final release will be on this fall) that includes improvement such as iMessage, Newstand, Reminders and one of their biggest new Apps, iCloud.
